Somebody must've been a good boy this year! I blame Bret for the gift overload. (yes, these are all River's presents...ridiculous, I know) One of these stockings is for our 4 legged child (I blame Bret for this one too)... Oh yes...THE "shootgun" that River has been so patiently waiting for. Every single time you ask River what he wanted Santa to bring him, his answer was always a "shootgun". Tell me that's not the cutest helmet you've ever seen!... Goes perfectly with his new set of wheels... And last, but not least...the coolest pirate ship you've ever seen. Last night we were playing with some of River's new toys, and just out of the blue he says "Santa Claus really likes me!". Yup, he sure does kiddo! Merry Christmas!!
We paid a visit to the man in the big red suit yesterday. It was a huge difference from last year! Last year he really didn't want to sit on his lap, and he would not even consider smiling. Well, he was so excited to see Santa this time! The second he got on his lap he told Santa that he wanted a "shootgun" and Legos for Christmas...and then (pause for effect....) he SMILED for the camera! A true Christmas miracle!
You better be a good boy!.... We met my friend, Liz there. We went together last year also, and got a picture of River and Harlowe (her daughter) together with Santa. We were going to try and do it again this year, but it didn't work out. I did get this cute little picture though. We love Harlowe! She is just 3 months younger than him. They've been friends since day one. So cute...
This year we went to my mom's house for a DELICIOUS Thanksgiving feast. Not everyone was able to be there, but still a ton of fun to hang out and play some games. It was a good day. Thanks for everything you did, Mom. It was perfect!
Mr. River (a.k.a. "The Boss") spent the day in uniform. (of course I forgot to take any pictures while we were there) He was a bit of a stinker Thanksgiving morning (that's putting it lightly), so I had to bribe him with a little something I got from the dollar store. He ate his meal with his eye patch and hook and he's been wearing it ever since. Man, that boy can be STUBBORN!
So we ordered new snow pants, coat and boots for River...and I think his they work a little too well, because he never wants to come inside. In fact, I think he was starting to get a little hot while he was playing outside the other night. Oh boy, Guess I better invest in some new winter gear for myself...looks like I'm gonna be spending a lot of time outside! So funny the other day when I came outside and I saw Bret...but no River. Can I just say that boy LOVES the snow! Good thing, because we get a TON of it up here!
River is obsessed with pirates lately. His playset outside is his "pirate ship", any sort of stick, pencil, spatula, etc...basically anything long and skinny is his "sword", and his FAVORITE show is Jake and the Neverland Pirates. So of course he was a pirate for Halloween....
The cutest pirate I've ever seen!
Poor Poor Indie. That dog puts up with so much...
About a week before Halloween one of my neighbors had a party at her house for the kids in the neighborhood. It was so cute. A bunch of other moms put together some games and activities, and even had a little spook ally. Fun to get together with all the other little ones in the neighborhood! Sophie is our little friend that lives across the street from us. She's such a cutie... As usual, we spent Halloween night with our good friends, The Albro's. They had homemade chili, and gluten free corn bread just for Bret. They are seriously the nicest people you'll ever come by. We always have a great time with them.
BUT, first we stopped by Grandma's house for a little tea party. Yup...you heard me...my boy loves a good tea party. He's so sophisticated... Trick-or-treating was a huge hit. It was so cute watching him go up to each house. He LOVED it and did not want to stop! Good thing the weather was so nice! It was a good Halloween :)
"The coldest winter I ever spent, was a summer in San Fransisco"~Mark Twain
The end of August Bret, River and myself took a trip to San Fransisco for a week. I LOVED it! I had never been there, so I definitely wasn't expecting it to be so cold in AUGUST!!! Still had a blast though! We stayed at the Hyatt Regency in the Financial District. Such a nice hotel! This was the view from our room... I loved the inside of our hotel. The elevators reminded me of Willy Wonka. We spent the week sight seeing, eating Fantastic food, and doing as much touristy things we could fit in. Alcatraz... The sea lions at Pier 39. They are just always there...all year long! River LOVED seeing them. Fisherman's Wharf. We ate at this place called The Crab House. Delish!! The Aquarium of the Bay. Very cool. My FAVORITE show growing up was "Full House". So I was pretty excited about seeing these houses. Got to try my first oyster.... It was actually pretty yummy! China Town Ghirardelli Square Poor River got sick about 2 days in. Luckily it only last about 24 hours. It was the first time throwing up for the poor guy. I felt so bad for him... I can't believe how fast that week flew by! We had such an incredible time!!
